Rebecca Douglass has always loved horses.  So when it came
time to formal education and her career, it is no surprise she
choose work in the equine field.  She received her bachelors at
the University of Maryland in 1996. She majored in Animal
Science/ Pre Vet and graduated with honors.  She then went on to
study behavioral ecology in graduate school.  In addition she
completed equine dental school and after rigorous testing
received her certification through the IAED.  While practicing
equine dentistry, she decided to return to school to study
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for a holistic, natural and
preventative approach to all illness.

It is her own horses that taught her the importance and success of
alternative medicine.  It started with her in high school when her
TB mare was diagnosed and treated successfully with acupuncture
after other western medicine vets had no success (1991).  Also
her first case was her own shetland pony that responded so well to
Chinese medicine for treatment of his COPD (2002) then her
aging TB gelding just needed some support in his later years
(2004) and now her competition horses that need to stay at the
top of their game (present).  And most recently, her ability to
rehabilitate her own Morgan diagnosed with kissing spine
(present).

She studied at the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese
Medicine and graduated top of her class in 2003.  Her studies in
Animal Acupuncture were through the Traditional Acupuncture
Institute (TAI Sophia) where she now assists in teaching the
equine portion of the program.

She is board certified through the National Certification
Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, licensed in
Acupuncture and certified by the state of Maryland in Animal
Acupuncture.  Rebecca's continuing education also includes
Classical Chinese Medicine, Herbal Medicine, Meridian Therapy,
Asian Bodywork, Postural Exercises, Craniosacral Therapy and
Somato-Emotional Release.  Her CST and SER education was
acquired through the Upledger Institute.  She remains a current
member of the American Acupuncture Council.

She has been riding and training horses for 25+ years and
continues to keep her knowledge on the cutting edge in all aspects
of animal care.  Her experience with both horses and riders helps
her understand and develop a holistic approach to their needs.

Rebecca is founder of AcuPoint Therapies LLC, a mixed practice
of both human and animal patients.  She believes in approaching
wellness with a holistic view.  This includes diet, exercise & body
awareness, acupuncture, acupressure, herbal medicine, and
craniosacral therapy.  Should you have any questions, please feel
